2017 GZL Mock Draft
Picks 1-20

Here's the obvious disclaimer: I have not been in this league long enough to see all your teams in action, so my opinions may not be correct. Having said that, here are my thoughts on what the first twenty picks may look like.

1.1- Patriots- CB-Richard Sherman- The Patriots are strong at CB right now, but Sherman is a generational talent that New England cannot pass up. This pick could possibly be moved as well, if the package were good enough. If not, Sherman has to be the pick.

1.2-49ers- WR-Josh Gordon- I don't think Gordon is that much better than other WR's in the draft, but he is probably the safest and most polished. The 49ers definitely need the help on the offensive side of the ball being outscored by over 100 points last season. Hester is old and Conway is raw. Gordon will be a good addition.

1.3- Jets- OLB-Khalil Mack- This could be a WR like Sammy Watkins or Aaron Drogan, but I just think Mack is too good of a talent to pass up. Hudson is the only starting quality LB on the roster. Mack could move inside or he could play at his current position too.

1.4- Bears- CB-Justin Gilbert- The Bears need help at CB and WR. Again this could be Watkins or Drogan, but I lean slightly toward Gilbert. Gilbert is a solid, unspectacular CB who should be a great starter for several seasons.

1.5- Saints- DE-Jadeveon Clowney- Clowney is a top talent. If Mack were here I think the Saints could take him, if not Clowney would be a great pick. Clowney has exceptional speed and quickness that will make life easier on the rest of the defense.

1.6- Raiders- OT-Greg Robinson- The Raiders could go WR, but Robinson is a phenomenal talent at OT. He's a comparable player to OT-Tyrone Smith with a little less speed. Adding Smith to a line with Bruce Campbell has to be attractive here.

1.7- Saints- WR-Sammy Watkins- Watkins could have been gone several picks ago, but if he lasts to 7, the Saints take him. He's not tall per say, but he is very athletic and polished. He would be a huge upgrade over what they have now.

1.8-Chargers- OG-Token Price- If the Chargers are in the market for an OL then Price is probably the pick, though I think they would be disappointed Robinson is not on the board.

1.9- Bears- WR-Aaron Drogan- He's 6'7" and 91 SPD. I would take him ahead of Sammy Watkins, but I don't think most people would. The MNL Cowboys had a guy like this who just dominated. Mr. Laurenson will remember this and gladly take Drogan here.

1.10- Vikings- WR-Mike Evans- If this were to hold true, the Vikings would get the steal of the draft at 10. Evans is a beast and get him at 10 would be great. I think the secondary in the NFC North will be challenged big time this season with Drogan and Evans coming aboard.

1.11-Redskins- SS-Jimmy Ward- The Redskins need some speed at FS. I think Ward would be a great pick here he brings speed plus an overall game.

1.12- Redskins- MLB-Ricky Austin- Austin is a stud, he could easily play inside or outside. The Redskins definitely need help on the outside. It actually wouldn't surprise me if they took two LB's, CB-Demarius Stonewall is also a possibility here.

1.13- Dolphins- CB-Demarius Stonewall- Stonewall fits the Dolphins and Mr. Harbinger well. He really is a similar player to recently departed Sean Smith. If he gets here, I'm sure the Dolphins will take him.

1.14-Chargers- OG-Brandon Thomas- The defense is set, but the OL is clearly weak. Thomas coupled with Price would do a lot to help Gabbert.

1.15-Saints- QB-Bo Callahan- I know the Saints are in no mood to take a QB and this mock will only increase the irritation of Mr. Sloat, but Callahan is good value here and with other needs addressed in the top 10, I think he makes sense.

1.16- Bengals- TE-Eric Ebron- I think the Bengals would love to have Drogan or Evans, but since they are not on the board they can address the TE position here. It is probably a little early for this but Ebron is good for sure. The other option could be a trade down and then select either Matthews or Brown.

1.17- Dolphins- MLB-C.J. Mosley- I don't think the Dolphins have any plans of starting the season with Frank or Freeman at LOLB. Mosley could be moved over and be an instant upgrade.

1.18- Falcons- WR-Jordan Matthews- I have Matthews here, but I'm not at all confident in this pick. I think a guy like MLB-Washington could be an option here too.

1.19- Dolphins- WR-Marlon Brown- Brown is raw but he has good speed and great size. He's the type of guy that in a couple of seasons could be star quality.

1.20- Buccaneers- HB-Carlos Hyde- AF could go a bunch of different ways here. The Bucs recently traded Lacey. Does this mean they have another trade in the works? Does this mean the backfield in all Knile Davis's? If the answer is no to both of these, then I think they take Carlos Hyde.
